Venus Dialogues | The Lyrical Journey of Phil G.

It's been a pleasure to be able to see the creative process at times and hear the music of Chicago's own Phil G. throughout his career. Steady rocking crowds and creating passionate rhymes for the people...just quintessentially good music. Blessings to you fam. Hale Street for life!

Absolute Venus: Let the people know about the projects that you are currently working on.
Phil G.: Currrently, I'm working on my new project entitled "No Way [Mixtape]" hosted by Jay iL aka Jay iLLa. I'm also assisting my co-d DJ Jeff da illest with his compilation album entitled "Late Night Experience". Both of which are scheduled to come out this Spring.

Absolute Venus: Are there any collabos with other artists (lyricists, producers, etc.) that you would like to mention?
Phil G.: I have a very monumental collaboration transmitting throughout the globe with two legendary hip hop figures. I worked with SADAT X of Brand Nubian on his lead single "This Is Our Thing" from his new album "Love, Hell or Right". The song also features the supreme lyricist Pharoahe Monch! That video was recently released.

Absolute Venus: When you’re creating art, what inspires you?
Phil G.: My inspiration usually comes from classic material and those artist that came before me and made favorable impressions on me as well as the culture. I am also heavily inspired by beautiful women and my imagination.

Absolute Venus: Who are your musical influences?
Phil G.: I'm influenced musically by classic soul singers and performers as well as writers. I am also influenced by the stories of my forefathers in black music and how they arrived and also how they continue to do what God intended them to do eventhough they may not be mainstream. Every black artist regardless of the genre that lives their purpose fully, I'm influenced by because I want to embody the same thing.
